When an invasion leaves her father slain, her kingdom in ruin, and her people scattered, Guinevere flees across the British Sea to the land of Cornwall. There she encounters a perplexing man, Merlin Caledonensis, young in appearance, old in manner, a wielder of both magic and sword.
